Born from a desire to honor her family’s history, Laura Jewell’s unique watercolor paintings capture the serenity of nature and the charm of the quilting tradition. In this ongoing series Laura was especially inspired to create a connection to her grandmother who was a quilt-maker by incorporating quilt blocks and also imagery from nature around the Midwest in her paintings. The marriage of these two subjects becomes evocative of the ideas of home, tradition, serenity, warmth, comfort and wonder.
