What if engaging with art isn’t just enriching—it’s essential? In Your Brain on Art, authors Susan Magsamen and Ivy Ross present compelling, science-backed evidence showing that the arts are not just entertainment—they're a powerful tool for healing, growth, and transformation.

Backed by groundbreaking research in neuroaesthetics, this book reveals how even 45 minutes of creative activity can reduce stress, enhance learning, fight loneliness, and even extend your lifespan. From music and dance to museum visits and virtual reality, the authors explore how creative expression improves brain function, emotional health, and overall well-being—regardless of age or skill level.

  • Explains how art impacts the brain, body, and emotions
  • Evidence-based insights from neuroscience, psychology, and medicine
  • Conversations with artists like David Byrne and Renée Fleming
  • Practical examples from healthcare, education, and design
  • A transformative read for artists, educators, therapists, and anyone curious about the power of creativity
